Dream kitchen on a budget…

To any new home builder or renovator...

You learn so much from the first time you build or renovate; we could have done this, shouldn't have done this… Yes hind sight is great isn't it…!

When the time to had come to design our kitchen.  I didn't want to have regrets or hind sight. It was one of the most important rooms in any home. Its where you spend most your time preparing, cooking meals,  never ending dishes,  and come together as a family to eat a meal.  For me it needed to tick all the boxes, which meant great  flow, ( this includes sink, benches, oven, fridge, bins…etc)

As Im writing this post it sounds so simple and easy right… WRONG! If anyone has ever built or renovated you will know exactly what I'm talking about! There are a million different ways in your mind for something to be such a simple and easy task, yet for me it was so complex and overwhelming.

I wasn't a fan of the modern sterile kitchen, it had to feel homely and reflect the chef - ME!
So I went searching…I had no idea about Pinterest at the time. (I could have done with that help!)
So I was on the hunt, I flicked thru heaps of kitchen mags.

Finally found some inspiration, I realised the kitchen I wanted was going to cost a lot more than I anticipated. I wasn't disheartened, I knew their was a way to get my kitchen… First I had to convince Paul (I needed lots of luck !)  Second it was going to be a lot more work!

To save on $$$ we decided on a flatpack measured every single panel, draw, door, and we outsourced the mantle and stone bench tops.

Paul installed the entire kitchen caucus and bins. We did it!

Sometimes I think it's worth spending more money than less and be stressed!

In the end we were all a happy family! I achieved my dream kitchen on a budget, and I don't have hind sight… Yay!

A xx
